Digital Wellness : My daily fight looking for emotional security

As wide as we understand security, as wide as we have risks. But we take care of our house, our car and much more we do it with the ones we love. We try to create security for ourselves.

Emotions take a strong place in our wellness and our health.

The quality of our relationships influences our emotions. Nowadays an important part of our daily relationships develops through devices. And surely we are promoting many face to face contacts, but what seems also to be sure is that from now on, a great part of our daily work and social relationships will be through devices.

At this point, I think it is not necessary to detail the risks of media communication, but I want to highlight some possible ways to improve our media experience.

Recently I have discovered that like we take a daily bath, we can do a daily influence purify (DIP)

What to do?

I am taking a moment at the end of my daily duties, to analyze the emotions experienced during the day; try to put them in order. It is not so easy if you haven't practice, but with the training, you can improve.

Probably it seems hard to say “put in order your emotions” or “purify them”. Yes, it's true. But harder is when our emotions lead our lives out of control.

We are not saying make disappear your emotions, we are saying put an order, "purify" what at the end of the day emotions leave over your mind and body, to make it possible a good rest and a very good morning turning all your emotions to positive purposes.

Now, I will offer you a draft guide I am putting in practice with good results (when I do it!)

Daily influence purify (DIC)

How to practice DIP at work (at the end of your work journey)

1. Separate tasks from emotions associated

2. Evaluate your worries

3. Try to turn your worries into tasks

4. Schedule your tasks for the next day

5. Dismiss the other worries and toxic emotions.

6. Practice an activity you love

How to practice DIP in social media (at the end of the day, better before dinner)

1. Evaluate your emotions

2. Take a moment to feel your body messages

3. Try to associate your emotions with your daily media experience

4. Identify the origin of toxic emotions

5. Try to finish the day in peace with everybody (at least do your part)

6. Take peace and calm moment before sleep

When you have finished, turn off your phone.

Weekly influence purify (WIP)

(Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, these are only suggested moments, but you can find others)

How to practice WIP

1. Discover weekly toxic emotions and situations associated

2. Plan your weekly work centered on tasks and healthy emotions

3. Plan your social media exposure centered on healthy relationships and situations

4. Have a strategy to minimize/avoid/ improve situations identified as emotionally toxic both at work and social media (probably just the same)

5. Design your weekly wellness strategies

6. One week later: evaluate your weekly wellness strategies practiced

You can consider this scale

Level 1: Frequently this week I had emotional bad experiences with many situations/ people

Level 2: Frequently this week I had emotional bad experiences with few situations/ people, always the same ones.

Level 3: Some days of this week I had emotional bad experiences with many situations/ people.

Level 4: Some days of this week I had emotional bad experiences with a few situations/ people, always the same ones.

Level 5: Some days of this week I had emotional bad experiences with a few situations/ people, not always the same ones.

Level 6: This week was emotionally good; I had occasionally emotional bad experiences.

Level 7 This week was emotionally very good; I can’t remember emotional bad experiences

You can improve this scale adding if emotional bad experiences were related to devices by marking in the scale with a dot.
In another occasion surely we can sophisticate this scale but is better to go step by step.

We can design strategies based on our own experience and evaluate them
I would love you to email me to share them and keep on learning.
